Liberal Arts: Math and Science

These courses emphasize the natural sciences which examine the physical universe, its life forms, and its natural phenomena. Math courses emphasize the development of mathematical and quantitative reasoning skills beyond the level of intermediate algebra. Students will be able to demonstrate an understanding of the methodologies of science as investigative tools. Students will also examine the influence that the acquisition of scientific knowledge has on the development of the world’s civilizations. An Associate of Arts degree may be earned by completing a minimum of 60 units of degree credit coursework with a minimum grade point average of 2.0. Major requirements must be completed with a ‘C’ grade or better with students selecting a minimum of 18 units from the following list of Math and Science courses. For breadth, students will complete courses in at least two disciplines from this list. Some courses in this major may also be counted toward the completion of general education requirements.
